WHAT IS FAST FASHION?

In recent years, the phrase 'fast fashion' has gained significant attention. This blog post will delve into the origin and definition of the term, explores ways to avoid it, and offers solutions to the fast fashion phenomenon.

 WHAT IS FAST FASHION?

Large retailers in the fast fashion industry manufacture a surplus of affordable clothing at a rapid pace to stay current with the latest fashion trends. However, let's not solely rely on my statement. Here are a few explanations from various sources.

THE GOOD TRADE:

A Design, manufacturing, and marketing methods focused on rapidly producing high volumes of clothing

 DICTIONARY:

Inexpensive clothing is  produced rapidly by mass-market  retailers in response to the latest trends.

WHEN DID THIS START?

A RUNDOWN OF THE FASHION INDUSTRY

The fashion industry has undergone several changes throughout history. Prior to the Industrial Revolution, clothing was usually custom-made or created at home. During the Industrial Revolution, the advent of ready-to-wear clothing made it possible for people to buy clothes at stores.

In the mid-20th century, fashion designers began creating clothing lines for four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. However, in the 21st century, some fashion companies adopted a new approach. They realized that by creating more seasons, they could sell more trendy clothes. As a result, many retailers now have 52 micro-seasons, which means a new season each week.

Fast fashion is designed to make you feel outdated as soon as you put on an item of clothing, effectively making it disposable after a single use.
